The most important thing in breeding tropical ornamental fish!
One of them is water temperature management.
Since tropical ornamental fish are very sensitive and weak to changes in water temperature and water quality, proper water temperature (24~27℃) should be maintained.
Why is water temperature management necessary?
The optimum water temperature for tropical fish is 24-27℃.
Fish are cold-blooded animals, so their body temperature changes with water temperature. Most ornamental fish have a hard time living without the help of a breeder.
Because they react very sensitively to water temperature and quality, there are cases in which small changes in the process of moving ornamental fish to a fish tank at home cause death.
As such, it is necessary to pay special attention to water temperature and water quality management.
Biological filtration
Another reason why water temperature control is necessary is bacteria. Your aquarium is breaking down food leftovers and waste with the help of bacteria. Filters are a haven for bacteria, and many of the drugs marketed as water stabilizers are bacteria for filtering. Maintaining clean water requires large amounts of healthy bacteria.
Decreased amount of dissolved oxygen
When the water temperature is low, the metabolism of bacteria is lowered and the filtration capacity is reduced, while the high water temperature activates the metabolism of bacteria and ornamental fish, requiring more nutrients and oxygen. On the other hand, since the volume of water molecules increases and the amount of saturated dissolved oxygen decreases, strict water temperature control is required to prevent oxygen deficiency.
* saturation dissolved oxygen = [20℃=9.2ppm -> 30℃=7.7ppm]
Difficulty managing water temperature
Day and night
If you install a heater when the water temperature is low, you can live relatively well, but if the daily temperature difference is large, the difficulty is doubled as you face an ambiguous situation whether to turn on the cooler or the heater.
When using frozen PET bottles or ice packs, various problems occur due to the hassle of frequent replacement and rapid temperature changes.
In the fan method, which evaporates water by blowing wind, the evaporation rate of water slows down when the humidity is high, making cooling impossible and increasing the evaporation rate of the water in the fish tank.
If it is difficult to replenish water from time to time, the amount of water decreases, causing rapid water quality deterioration.
The compressor method boasts excellent performance, but has disadvantages such as noise, vibration, and heat that interfere with the living environment and are difficult to install.
In addition, in the case of products using existing thermoelectric elements, it is difficult to maintain a desired temperature despite high power consumption due to low performance and thermal efficiency.
Other research results on the damage of aluminum oxide to ornamental fish are still incomplete, but damage to the human body includes nervous system diseases, brain diseases, language disorders, memory decline, and dementia.
