Saltwater aquarium with the ElecQUA English brand message in a bright living space

Cooling & heating in oneAll year round

The ElecQUA Thermostat maintains water temperature with 0.1°C precision.

Year-round temperature control, all in one

The ElecQUA Thermostat is a hang-on unit that automatically switches between cooling and heating based on the actual water temperature.

  • Automatically switches between cooling and heating based on the actual water temperature
  • Installs directly on aquarium glass up to 10 mm (0.39 in) thick
  • Check the water temperature and operating status and change settings in the app

CORE BENEFITS

Optimized for aquarium temperature control

One product simplifies the process of changing equipment with the seasons, connecting pumps and hoses, and checking the operating status at the aquarium.

01

No need to change equipment with every season.

Cooling when it is hot, heating when it is cold

Manage aquarium temperature year-round with one product instead of preparing a separate chiller and heater.

02

Operates as needed based on the actual water temperature.

Automatically switches between cooling and heating

Rather than switching equipment at set times, it operates automatically according to the measured water temperature and configured conditions.

03

Installs directly on the aquarium without a pump or hoses.

Direct heat exchange

Because no separate external circulation pump or connecting hoses are required, both the installation and the area around the aquarium can remain simple.

04

Check the water temperature remotely.

Internet of Things

After registering the product, users can check the current water temperature and operating status and change settings in the app. If the internet connection is lost, the product continues controlling the water temperature based on the saved settings.

DIRECT HEAT EXCHANGE

Unlike external circulation systems, it transfers thermal energy directly.

The ElecQUA Thermostat cools and heats through direct contact with the aquarium water. With no circulation pump or hoses required, installation and maintenance are simpler, and there is no heat loss from external circulation.

Example external-circulation cooling setup with a chiller, circulation pump, connecting hoses, and controller

EXTERNAL CIRCULATION

External-circulation cooling setup

A system that connects a chiller, pump, and hoses to circulate aquarium water outside the aquarium.

  1. Required accessories: circulation pump and hoses

  2. Heat generated by the circulation pump

  3. Heat loss during water circulation

  4. Reduced heat-exchange efficiency from deposits

  5. Difficulty cleaning inside the heat exchanger

DIRECT HEAT EXCHANGE

ElecQUA direct heat-exchange technology

A ceramic heat exchanger exchanges heat directly with the aquarium water, managing both cooling and heating in one product.

  1. Direct heat-exchange technology integrating cooling and heating

  2. Installs directly on aquarium glass

  3. Designed without a pump or connecting hoses

  4. Ceramic heat exchanger with a 0% corrosion rate

  5. Easy maintenance

CAPACITY GUIDE

Check the maximum temperature difference for your aquarium

The performance table below shows the maximum cooling and heating temperature differences measured against an aquarium without the product installed.

When choosing the product, consider not only the aquarium size but also the highest room temperature and the heat generated by equipment installed in the aquarium.

Three conditions to check before purchase

01

Total aquarium volume

The water, substrate, and decorations all exchange heat.

Do not calculate capacity by subtracting the substrate and decorations from the water volume. Use the aquarium's full dimensions when checking the performance table.

02

Highest room temperature and target water temperature

Check the difference between the highest room temperature during the hottest season and the water temperature you want to maintain.

03

Heat generated in the aquarium

Heat from lighting, filters, submerged motors, and circulation pumps can raise the actual water temperature above room temperature.

Based on one ElecQUA Thermostat installed

40 L (10.6 US gal) → 60 L (15.9 US gal) → 80 L (21.1 US gal) → 120 L (31.7 US gal)

The table shows the maximum cooling and heating temperature differences compared with an aquarium without the product installed.

For example, the maximum cooling temperature difference for an 80 L (21.1 US gal) aquarium is 5°C (9°F).

If the water temperature without the product installed is 32°C (89.6°F), the expected water temperature with the ElecQUA Thermostat installed is approximately 27°C (80.6°F).

Setting a lower target temperature does not increase the product's maximum cooling temperature difference.

※ Compare against the actual aquarium water temperature measured without the product installed, not the room temperature. Heat from lighting, filters, and other equipment, together with surrounding conditions, can make the aquarium water warmer than the room.

※ The time required to reach the maximum temperature difference varies with the room temperature and aquarium environment.

Aquariums up to 120 L (31.7 US gal)

Do not decide based on aquarium volume alone. Compare the highest and lowest water temperatures without the product installed and the target water temperature with the performance table.

If the aquarium has powerful lighting, a large filter, or other equipment that raises the water temperature, an additional ElecQUA Thermostat may be required.

Three-foot aquariums

In many three-foot aquariums, one ElecQUA Thermostat may not provide a sufficient temperature difference.

Starting with two units is recommended. Because the total volume varies with the aquarium's width and height, check both the exact dimensions and the required temperature difference.

Saltwater aquariums

In most saltwater aquariums, heat from lighting, circulation pumps, skimmers, and other equipment raises the water temperature above room temperature.

Do not decide based only on the highest room temperature. Determine the required cooling capacity from the highest water temperature measured without separate cooling equipment.

For aquariums over 120 L (31.7 US gal), consider multiple units or a larger chiller

The table shows the maximum cooling and heating temperature differences measured with one ElecQUA Thermostat in aquariums up to 120 L (31.7 US gal).

If the aquarium exceeds 120 L (31.7 US gal), or if the difference between the water temperature without the product installed and the target water temperature exceeds the range in the table, consider multiple ElecQUA Thermostats or a larger chiller.
